“Right here, right now” is a writing prompt I began working with in the fall of 2018. Inspired by Julia Cameron’s “Morning Pages,” it has developed into an ongoing practice that I use to align myself with the outer and inner real estate of my present tense. It’s an incredibly open, inclusive and freeing prompt that invites me to consider everything as material, no matter how (seemingly) inconsequential. Over time, I have noticed myself slowing down, paying more attention, and giving myself more spaciousness and self-compassion. “Right here, right now” isn’t just a writing practice - it’s a life practice that meets the challenge of these times and creates a more yielding place to understand it all.
These sessions are open to new and experienced writers of all genres - everyone is welcome! The gist of it is that we write from the single prompt, “right here, right now” each time. I set a timer for 20 minutes, we write, and those who would like to share their work have the opportunity to read out loud. There’s no critique or feedback, but I invite those who are listening to jot down words or phrases they are hearing that are sparking them somehow, and we share this list at the end of the session.
The “Right Here, Right Now” sessions take place on Zoom and are approximately 1 hour long. You can sign up for single or multiple sessions. And feel free to mix & match dates! Cost is $25 / session. Have questions ? Just email me.
