“Maya creates a warm and welcoming space, with zero pressure and lots of support. Her fun and low-key approach to creativity helped me access things that had been stuck and hidden. ” - Ana Stapleton

Sifting Through The Sandbox

For writers looking for ways to sharpen, enliven, and embolden their work

Part poetry workshop, part writing invitation, this event (on Zoom) focuses on using restriction and constraint as a way to finetune creative work. In the first half of our gathering, I’ll be “dissecting” one of my recent poems or poems-in-development, sharing my editing process and exploring the decision-making involved in moving a piece of writing toward completion. Then we’ll be switching gears and writing together, using a prompt I’ll offer that will involve a parameter (and a time limit!). There’ll also be time for some sharing and a Q&A.

Each of these sessions will feature a different poem and a different prompt, so you can join all three (there’s a $20 discount if you do!). The sessions will be recorded, and the links will be shared afterward.
