a road, regardless
I know, the day's already disassembled, careening out of the lines
you'd intended, cleaving from each parameter you'd set so carefully
the evening before, in your beautifully wishful thinking. Not even a cup
of coffee in, see how you wrong you were, how badly you did the math.
Isn't it marvelous, how poor the planning went, the map you unfolded
taking you nowhere near your destination? How magnificently far
you strayed, spinning in the undertow of your own miscalculation?
Look how fast you steady your gaze, how hard you work to right your body
into something resembling alignment. Look how you find a road,
regardless, how you take the chances it will lead you home.
