the opposite

Here’s our link for today: the strange dream that takes us on a wild ride,
the not-enough coffee, or the too much, an animal prowling at our ankles
because we’re making a turkey sandwich, the paperwork idling, and the feeling
of a waiting room, and the conversation we’d like to avoid, and will or won’t,
and the perception that no matter what, our efforts cannot outmuscle
our obstacles, and all that missing we do, and the wish for snow angels or
whatever it was that used to drive us earthward to flap our arms and get messy,
and late fees and disappointment and an inflated sense that we are right about something
and no one understands, and a dwindling roll of paper towels and patience, and car keys
that aren’t where we left them, and loneliness, and also the opposite of all these things.
